Quintessentially British

As Mulberry sunglasses and Mulberry glasses make their debut, we're taking a look at the history of the world renowned British brand. Born in Somerset 1971, founder Roger Saul initiated Mulberry at his kitchen table, with just £500 backing from his mother.


The infamous Mulberry tree was created soon after by Saul's sister, to represent the tree's he would pass every day on his way to school. Both Mulberry sunglasses and Mulberry prescription glasses are inspired by a love of nature, the growth of a true British brand and the importance of family. 

Iconic Design

Mulberry's first designs were buckled leather belts, with other accessories soon following such as a womenswear line, and the iconic Mulberry bag collection of which the brand is most well known for today. The iconic Trout Satchel, the Bayswater and the Alexa are all true examples of British design, which is what Mulberry's creative director is hoping to bring to the new Mulberry glasses and Mulberry sunglasses collections. 


These new lines include both sunglasses and optical frames, which are complementary to the brand's core leather goods offering. Eyewear is an important category in building the lifestyle image that is associated with Mulberry, and is the natural next step in taking the luxury brand global. 


Mulberry is at an exciting moment in its history, and the introuction of Mulberry glasses and Mulberry sunglasses will no doubt enable the world to fall in love with distinctive British design.
